What to Expect
-
While subject to change, the full camp days (Tuesday-Thursday) usually have the following components:
Morning: Breakfast, Quiet Time, Worship, Topical Session, Small Group
Afternoon: Lunch, Rec Rotations, Rest/Clean Up
Evening: Dinner, Worship, Themed Teaching, Small Group, Late Night Activity, Snack
-
All students stay in an air-conditioned bunkhouse room that sleeps up to 16. Each room for 16 has its own bathroom with 3 toilets, 3 shower stalls, & 3 sinks. Our goal is for the student number in a room to be 14 or fewer & for every room to have at least 2 adults. All rooms are comprised of the same gender.
We create rooms taking student rooming requests (part of registration), age/grade & regular small groups into consideration. Groups will be announced on Monday morning before departing for camp.
-
While subject to change, our rec options typically include 2 visits to the wave pool + volleyball courts and 1 visit to paintball, high ropes, adventure course, indoor rec, & outdoor rec. Students who have just graduated have the option to participate in white water rafting.
-
The entire camp is relatively large. It is situated on a ridge in the Cherokee National Forest. There is a fair amount of walking on inclines throughout the day. We take travel time into consideration when building schedules. Students & leaders are expected to walk between activities with the exception of injuries that affect mobility.
-
The staff at Ocoee Ridge creates the menus & prepares our food for the 11 meals that we are on-site (4 breakfasts, 3 lunches & 4 dinners.) They offer both hot & cold meal options as well as accommodate for some allergies (including gluten & peanuts.)
We hope to have access to menus to share ahead of camp this year.
Additionally, our team offers a snack each evening after evening small groups & a snack for the ride back home on Friday.
Your child can bring snacks to eat (no nut products, liquid, or sticky items) as well as money to purchase snacks from the canteen offered by Ocoee Ridge Camp during the day.

Yes. We never want cost to hold back a student who wants to attend, so we offer fundraising ideas and scholarships.
There are a list of fundraising ideas on our website & at our camp booth.
We have camp scholarship applications available. Students who apply will go through an interview & be given next steps to follow. Applications are available online through May 21.
Find out more about both options at the camp booth at your campus or campwhatever.com

Camp Whatever is open to middle school & high school students who have JUST completed 6th grade through 12th grade. We would like to take as many students as possible, but there are limitations based on the Ocoee Ridge facilities.

Unless you have an extenuating circumstance that you have let our team know about via email, you will need to bring your luggage on the evening of the 22nd for luggage check-in. This allows us to double check forms & balance and pack luggage so it can arrive ahead of students.
-
LifePoint will be contracting Eagle Christian Tours for all of our transportation. Our bus drivers are trained, licensed, and insured by their company as well.
Gospel City Church will be arranging their own transportation from Florida to Tennessee.
-
We do our best to have a blend of separate activities and activities as an entire camp.
Small groups and rooming arrangements are always separate. We try very hard to keep rec rotations separate, but if we have to overlap, it will be the same gender together with sensitivity to which grades are combined for the one activity. We also create more separation during the morning topical sessions so that it can be more tailored based on age and/or gender.
Of course, there will be some overlap during meal times, worship, evening sessions, and late night, but for the most part, we keep them with peers of a similar age group.
-
Due to the purpose, length, & overall logisitics of camp, we do not allow visitors. Parents wishing to come can inquire about coming for the week to serve as a small group leader. We do our best to help you stay connected with what is going on throughout the week via our live stream of the evening session, social media posts, & recap videos.
